A Bainbridge resident was robbed at gunpoint Monday night in the parking lot of CVS Pharmacy on Shotwell Street.
Bainbridge Public Safety officers responded to the armed robbery call and made contact with the victim at the scene, who said she had gotten out of her car in the store’s parking lot at 7 p.m. and noticed three black males standing against the wall.
“She went into the store, and as she came back out and got to her car, a short black male walked up to her and pointed a silver semiautomatic pistol at her chest and (demanded her purse),” Bainbridge Public Safety Captain Mark Esquivel said.
After the robbery, the victim said the three black males ran and disappeared behind the store toward East Broughton Street.
Esquivel said the victim wasn’t parked in the front of the store, but only a few spots down in the side parking lot.
Footage caught next door from First National Bank of Decatur County’s security cameras show blurs running through the CVS parking lot at the time of the incident. Due to poor lighting, rain and distance, Esquivel said it was difficult to make out anything.
The victim wasn’t able to remember specific features of the armed robber.
“When something traumatic happens like this, you don’t remember details,” Esquivel said. “Based on that video and her statement, we really don’t have any suspects.”
According to an employee that worked an earlier shift at CVS, three young males were hanging out outside the store.
From the video footage, Esquivel noticed they were moving back and forth in front the store from roughly 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Esquivel asked if any shoppers or workers who were visiting CVS between those times have any information on the alleged suspects to contact BPS by calling (229) 243-2147.
He also encouraged people to be safe and aware when going out at night.
“Just pay attention to you surroundings,” he said. “If it’s late at night, try to park under a light or in the front of the building so you’re more visible.”
