Lady Cats take second straight win, defeat Miller County

Coach Kelvin Cochran’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats basketball defeated the Miller County High School Lady Pirates 59-36 Saturday at the Bainbridge High School Gymnasium.
It was the Lady Cats’ second home victory in as many nights.
Friday they defeated the Seminole High School Lady Indians 68-44.
Patra Parris led the Lady Cats scoring attack Saturday night with 21 points. Alexandria Carter was also in double figures with 12 and Tameria Levens added 8.
Adriaanna Bradley scored 7 for the Lady Pirates.
The Lady Cats jumped out to an early 7-0 lead.
Parras’s layup off the right glass made it 2-0 at the 7:12 mark and Carter’s close in jumper made it 4-0 A three point jumper by Carter concluded the early 7-0 run.
The Lady Cats led 13-7 at the end of the first quarter.
They took their first double-digit lead at 23-10 when Carter hit a layup off the right glass at the 5:40 mark. They were up 26-19 at halftime and 38-25 after three quarters.
Coach Cochran said his team is taking care of the ball much better. He pointed out the better ball handling was a key to their two straight wins.
“I am very proud of the way we have been playing recently,” he said. “We are passing the ball well and setting up teammates for good shots. We are also playing much better defense.”
The Lady Cats had a total of 43 rebounds for the night.
The Lady Cats will begin region 1AAAAA action when they travel to Hamilton to take on the Harris County High School Lady Tigers. Tip off will be at 6 p.m.
Tuesday they will have a 6 p.m. rematch with the Miller County High School Lady Pirates in Colquitt.
