Seven Bearcats selected for ‘Border Wars’

Football season isn’t quite over yet for a select few Bearcats.
Seven senior players from Jeff Littleton’s Bainbridge High School football team have been selected to play in the Southwest Georgia-North Florida “Border Wars” Senior All-Star game in Moultrie.
Other players from schools in Georgia will come together to play against a Florida team. Practice begins Jan. 13 and runs through Jan. 16. The game will be played at Mack Tharpe Stadium on Friday, Jan. 18, at 8 p.m.
Offensive lineman Chris Johnson has been selected to represent the Bearcats. Johnson received an offensive second team nomination by GHSA and had 28 intimidating blocks.
Center Tate Griffin will also represent the Bearcats on the line. Griffin also received a second team offensive nomination by the GHSA this season and had 25 intimidating blocks.
Both Johnson and Griffin started every game this season.
Offensive and defensive tackle Malik Tate will join Johnson and Griffin on the lineup for the Bearcats.
Preston Norris has been selected to represent Bainbridge in the quarterback slot. Norris passed for 1238 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions this season. He also rushed for three touchdowns.
Other Bearcat weapons include brothers Craig and Greg Cooper. Craig rushed for 289 yards on kick off return, 151 pass yards and 55 rushing yards. He also received GHSA nominations for first team offensive all-purpose, return specialist and defensive backs.
Greg, first team linebacker, had 88 tackles this season, 14 for loss, four sacks and four pass breakups.
Record-setting kicker Daniel Provence was chosen to lend his accurate foot. Provence made nine out of 10 field goals this season with a 41-yard distance record. He set the school record this season with 18 career field goals and was nominated for first team place kicker by the GHSA.
