Elton James (E.J.) Scott

Mr. Elton James (E.J.) Scott, age 83, of Iron City, Ga. passed away Thursday Nov., 14, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Scott were held on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, with Rev. Jimmy Walden officiating. Interment followed at Corinth Cemetery in Iron City, with his sons Danny L. Kinney, Carlton L. Scott, Robert E. Scott, Charles L. Scott, James Ray Scott and Rev. Walden serving as active pallbearers and his grandsons, Hadden Scott, Philip Scott, James Scott, Will Scott and John Parker serving as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Scott was born in Cusseta, Ga. on July 26, 1930 to the late L.J. and Ouida Barrett Scott. He was an active member of Unity Church of God and owned and operated Scott’s Transmission Service for over 40 years
He was preceded in death by his parents L.J. and Ouida Barrett Scott; a grandson, Adam Kinney and several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Scott leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Melba Scott; five sons, Danny L. Kinney and his wife Becky; Carlton L. Scott and his wife Kathy, Robert E. Scott and his wife Susan; Charles I. Scott and his wife Amy; and James Ray Scott and his wife Debbie all of Iron City; as well as 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Margaret McKenzie of Columbus, Ga., Merle Scott and Cathy Wiggins of Buena Vista, Ga.; 5 brothers, L.G. “Buddy” Scott , Gary Scott, Dennis Scott, Michael Scott and Allen Scott, all of Buena Vista; and numerous nieces and nephews.
