Daniel Arden

Daniel Arden, 91, of Bryan, Texas passed away Oct. 23, 2013 at St. Joseph Manor in Bryan.
Dr. Arden was born in Bainbridge, Ga. to Daniel Douglas Arden Sr. and Caroline Battle Arden.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; his Master of Science degree from Emory University; and his Ph.D. in paleontology from the University of California, Berkeley. His career was divided between academics and oil and gas exploration, the latter of which took him and his family to many parts of the world. Later in his career, he returned to academics, and since the time of his retirement, he was Professor Emeritus at Georgia Southwestern State University. His education and early career were carved around his distinguished military service as an Air Force navigator during World War II and the Korean conflict.
Dr. Arden was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary, and his sister Caroline.
His surviving family includes his daughters Dana, Nancy, and Laurie, and his son Daniel; as well as four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Surviving cousins in Bainbridge include Carolyn and Mayo Livingston and Jean Gute.
