George Beazly

A memorial service for George Beazly, age 81, of Ashburn, G., was held Sept. 30, 2013, at Ashburn First United Methodist Church.
The eulogy was delivered by Dr. Edwin Heard of Manchester, Tenn. and a daughter’s memories were read by niece Bekki B. Medsker of S.C.
Mr. Beazly was born the middle son of a mid-western farm family.
In the early l950’s George had been stationed at Bainbridge Ga. and later at Tyndall Air Force Base, where he and Faye lived at Mexico Beach until his discharge. From there he returned home to graduate from the University of Illinois College of Agriculture..
Back in Georgia, Mr. Beazly introduced the Brown Swiss dairy breed to Turner County, and grew soybeans before they were common in Georgia. He retired as a tree farmer and conservationist, planting his own fields in three types of pines while active in Beazly Realty.
He enjoyed politics on the side, serving as a county party chairman.
There were regular trips back to Bainbridge for Southern Airways reunions, Heard/Moore and Pope family reunions.
For many years they stayed in the home of Edgar and Doris Heard for visits before and after their deaths. As daughters moved about, George and Faye enjoyed travelling to see them in Chicago, London, and Australia, as well as relatives back on the Beazly family farm in Illinois..
He is survived by his wife Faye Heard Beazly, two daughters and five granddaughters: Beverly B. Diaz , Rachel and Rebecca Diaz and their father Chris of Sydney, Australia; April B. Lyerly of Marietta,Ga., Kirsten, Courtney and Chloe and their father Thomas Lyerly; brothers James Beazly of South Carolina, Dean Beazly; and his sister Mary Koch of Monticello. Ill.
