John Johnson to host Bulldog Trot

The annual John Johnson Elementary Bulldog Trot will raise funds this year for the school’s technology program, but so far few families have registered.

The 5k and kid’s fun run will wind around downtown through West Street and down Shotwell and organizers say the race wills be a family and community event.

“It’s a communitywide event that is family friendly and parents can run in the 5k right after the kid’s fun run,” JJE head teacher Kaycee Wade said. “There are medals handed out for all the participants and it is just a really fun, family event.”

Wade said not all teachers at the school have Elmos in their classrooms, or projectors that project paper and books onto a screen. She said money raised at the Bulldog trot will go towards the purchase of that classroom technology equipment, but few have preregistered.

“We have had from 20 to 30 students participate in previous years and we are hoping to have even more this year,” Wade said.

The event will be Saturday Nov. 16 at John John Johnson Elementary. Meet registration for the 5k and one-mile fun run races will begin at 7:30 a.m.

But the preregistration deadline is Nov. 1 and registering by that date guarantees a t-shirt as well as costs less.

Pre-registration is $15 for the 5k and $10 for the one-mile fun run. Preregistering by Nov. 1 will guarantee a t-shirt.

Registering on the day of the race will cost $20 for the 5k race and $15 for the one-mile fun run. Contact Jamie Ard at jard@dcboe.com or Lisa Enfinger at lenfinger@dcboe.com. Download a registration form at www.dcboe.com/jje
