Bainbridge JROTC places first

The Bainbridge High School Air Force JROTC drill team won the top title at their meet earlier this month in Lowndes County and they are currently training for their next meet in Tifton.

The Bainbridge High School Air Force JROTC drill team won the top title at their meet earlier this month in Lowndes County and they are currently training for their next meet in Tifton.

The Bainbridge High School Air Force JROTC Drill Team attended their first drill meet of the year, Saturday Oct. 12, at the 2013 Title Town Drill Meet in Valdosta.
This year’s team, led by Drill Team Coordinator Cadet Zach Toole, finished as the overall champion.
The unarmed regulation team, commanded by Cadet Dexter Lagace, won a first-place trophy in regulation drill and inspection and Cadet Lagace also earned the Outstanding Unarmed Commander Medal.  The armed regulation team, led by Cadet Michael Tome, picked up a second-place trophy in regulation drill. In the color guard competition the four-person team won  second-place and was commanded by Cadet Gabriel Cofer.
This year the BHS Drill Team decided to take a junior varsity team to Valdosta.  Cadet Jamal Garnes commanded the JV team and won the Outstanding Commander Medal in the inspection competition.  He continued to impress the judges in the final event of the day and brought home a first-place medal in IDR (Individual Drill Regulation).
The team is now in preparation for their second drill meet of the season in Tifton on Nov 16.
