Memorial services for Janice Hart Hilton, 78, of Calvary, Ga., will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo. Rev. Travis Harrison will officiate. Services will conclude at the Chapel.
Mrs. Hilton passed away at her home on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Hilton was born on Aug.14, 1935, in Cairo, to the late Grady Hart and Lily Mae Jones Hart. On April 21, 1951, she married Bobby Hilton, who survives. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage. She was a paraprofessional with the Decatur County Board of Education for 20 years.
She touched many young lives during her career. Janice loved to travel. She and Bobby made numerous trips to the beach and the mountains. She especially liked to swim and she enjoyed boat rides on the Flint River.
She was an avid gardener. Janice had a green thumb and everything she touched bloomed beautifully. She was of the Baptist faith.
Janice was preceded in death by her two children, Emil Hilton and Kerri Thursby. Survivors include her husband, Bobby K. Hilton of Calvary; daughter and son-in-law, Scarlet and Todd Cummings of Calvary; grandsons, Kyle Cummings of Calvary, Sean Cummings of Corvallis, Ore., Mackenzie Tomlinson of Bainbridge; sisters, Judy King of Tallahassee, Fla., Jimmie Lou Hurst (Louis) of Havana, Fla.; several nieces and one nephew. Janice was recently blessed with the birth of a great-granddaughter, Rolly Kestral Cummings of Corvallis.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home immediately following the service at the Chapel.
