Recent DNR reports
The following incidents and activity were reported by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Law Enforcement Division:
• On June 27, members of the Region 5 Critical Action Teams, along with Seminole State Park staff, conducted a joint training exercise. The event was designed to test the readiness, training, and equipment of the members when conducting searches for missing persons or responding to natural disasters.
• On June 18 and June 19, DNR Rangers from Region 5 — Albany participated in an “Active Shooter Training” event, in conjunction with the Georgia State Patrol and Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The training was designed to familiarize the officers with the quick response and management necessary should they be involved in one of these events.
• On June 14, Corporal Randy Davis investigated a complaint in Mitchell County of a subject possessing alligator snapping turtles, raccoons and squirrels. During Davis’s investigation it was discovered that the complainant themselves possessed a raccoon and squirrels. The subject was issued a citation for holding/possessing game animals without a permit.
