Billy R. Griffin, 68, of Brinson, Ga., passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Stanley Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, with Blake Kelley, Zack Griffin, Rex Wade III, Ryan Wade, Kyle Horne, Walt Landrum and Tyler Allen serving as active pallbearers.

Mr. Griffin was born May 8, 1945, in Bainbridge, the son of Jimmie Nathaniel Griffin and Sally Lucille Yates Griffin. He was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School, Class of 1963. Billy dedicated 44 years to fire service, and retired from Bainbridge Public Safety and later retired as chief of Decatur County Fire and Rescue. Mr. Griffin attended Bethany Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Nix Griffin of Brinson; his daughters, Tracy G. Wade and her husband, Rex, of Bainbridge, Teresa C. Griffin of Bainbridge, Pam S. Kelley and her husband, Brad, of Bainbridge, Tonya Griffin of Cairo, and Kim S. Allen and her husband, Zane, of Brinson; his sister, Otheda G. Raney of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Rex Wade III and his wife, Jenni, Ryan Wade, Ashlee Landrum and her husband, Walt, Kyle Horne, Blake Kelley, Brooke Griffin and her husband, Zack, Jordan Kay, Tyler Allen, and Seth Allen; his great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Landrum and Parker Landrum.
