Bainbridge will open National Crime Victims Week (April 21-27) with a ceremony to honor victims and the nation’s progress in advancing their rights.

The South Georgia Judicial Circuit annually observes the week with special events and programs, including a small memorial for all crime victims in the counties of Baker, Calhoun, Decatur, Grady and Mitchell. This year, the event will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Bainbridge on Wednesday, April 23, at noon.

The event will include a balloon release, symbolizing the releasing of grief and a celebration of life, a speech from Larry Nichols of the Red Hills Counseling Services LLC, and an opportunity for survivors or family victims to share their stories. Refreshments and appetizers will be served for those in attendance.
