Elton R. “Rudy” Wells, 86, of Albany, Ga., passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Covenant Hospice, in Pensacola, Fla.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. James Olivent officiating. Interment will follow at Greenshade Cemetery with Tony Wells, Gene Winter, Jody Wells, Steven Wells, Cory Wells and Brad Wells serving as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, prior to the funeral service at Ivey Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Albany Community Hospice, 320 Foundation Lane, Albany, GA 31707.
Mr. Wells was born Nov. 10, 1926, in Climax, Ga., the son of Robert Clanton Wells and Josephine Bates Wells. He was a graduate of Faceville High School, Class of 1943, and was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. Mr. Wells was a retired plant manager for Florida Tile Company. He was a member of Faceville Methodist Church, the Ajo Masonic Lodge, and the Elks Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Olivent Wells.
Survivors include his son, Glenn Wells and his wife, Diana, of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; his daughters, Janelle Winter and her husband, Greg, of Albany, Cindy Junkins and her husband, James, of Sylvester, Ga., and Marcia Cumbie and her husband, Stan, of Dawson, Ga.; his seven grandchildren; and his 13 great-grandchildren.
Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
