Swine champions shown Saturday

Taylor Barber showed the grand and reserve champion market hogs and Jake Barber showed the grand and reserve champion county grown hogs, highlighting Saturday’s Decatur County Young Farmer Swine Show at the Cloud Livestock Pavilion.
Taylor Barber also won the junior showmanship division. Other showmanship winners were Emma Watson in the pee wee division, Carson Lynn in the pre club division, Heath Parker in the intermediate division and Audrey Anderson in the senior division.
The judge for the show was University of Georgia veterinary medicine student Ben Scott, who has also judged shows in Texas and Oklahoma.
Seniors Audrey Anderson, Taylor Strickland, Jason Long and Cody Powell were honored for their outstanding achievements with the Bainbridge Show Team.
Anderson, the daughter of Joe and Grace Anderson, was a member of the Decatur County 4-H Club for three years and has been a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) for seven years. She has exhibited multiple swine for eight years.
Strickland, the daughter of Ben and Debbie Strickland, has shown cattle for nine years and swine for two years. She is president of the Bainbridge High School FFA chapter.
Long, the son of Phil and Diane Long, has been showing market hogs and breeding gilts since his early Decatur County 4-H Club years.
Powell, the son of Todd and April Powell, has been an active member of the FFA and Decatur County 4-H Club.
He is a student at Southwest Georgia Academy, where has lettered in football, baseball and golf, and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
