Wright Carly “W.C.” Calhoun

Mr. W.C. Calhoun, 81, of Colquitt, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at South East Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Mother’s Home Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Talmadge Worsley and the Rev. Jeremy Horne officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Calhoun served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War and later retired from the Army National Guard. He was a member of the William M. Wilson VFW Post #6046 and the Gerald Grow Post #165 American Legion. Mr. Calhoun retired from Bell South as a cable splicer. He was a member of Mother’s Home Free Will Baptist Church.

Mr. Calhoun was preceded in death by his parents, Zack and Claudie Calhoun; one son, Jody Calhoun; one brother, W.M. Calhoun and two sisters, Ticese Smith and Mary Lou Franklin.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra B. Calhoun of Colquitt; three daughters, Denise Eason of Dothan, Ala., Lorna (Rault) Anderson of Virginia Beach, Va., and Wendy (Don) Darling of Prattville, Ala.; three stepsons, Jeff (Sheila) Poitevint of Evans, Ga., Rusty (Jenny) Poitevint of Vada, and Kasey Poitevint of Bainbridge; one step-daughter, Brandy (Lee) Howard of Bainbridge; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren; one brother, Zack Hunter (Helen) Calhoun of Bainbridge; four sisters, Juanita (Fred) Estergren of Henderson, Nev., Lurley Haire of Colquitt, Nannie Mae Pugh of Panama City, Fla., and Shirley Smith of Lynn Haven, Fla.; and a large number of nieces and nephews.

Colquitt Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
