Sarah Kelley Pope, 82, of Havana, Fla., passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at her residence.
The funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Interment followed at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with Tim Maxwell, Rickey Pope, Alan Pope, Jimmy Mullis, Jeff Mullis, Mike Mullis and Terry Phillips serving as active pallbearers.
Memorial donations may be made to Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 4214 Thomasville Road, Climax, GA 39834.
Mrs. Pope was born Jan. 13, 1931, in the Bell-Dixon Community, the daughter of James “Jim” Kelley and Lizzie Louvennia Cannon Kelley. She was a graduate of Climax High School, Class of 1947. She moved to Tallahassee, Fla., in 1963 and retired in 1992 from the State of Florida’s Bureau of Blind Services after 27 years of service. Mrs. Pope was a member of Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her brother, James Carey Kelley.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Elton Eugene “Bill” Pope of Havana; her son, Donald E. Pope and his wife, Dawn, of Valdosta, Ga.; her daughter, Cathie Pope Pedersen and her husband, Pete, of Havana; her sisters, Marguerite K. Mullis of Statesboro, Ga., and Esther K. Maxwell of Camilla, Ga.; her grandchildren, Erica Pope of Tifton, Ga., Lauren Pope of Valdosta, Roy O. Pedersen and his wife, Rachel, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Jodi Pedersen of Tallahassee; and her sister-in-law, Drucilla Pope of Cairo, Ga.
