Bingo night, golf tourney to benefit animal shelter

Animal lovers may be interested in participating in upcoming fundraisers that will benefit the Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society.

On Friday, Jan. 18, the Humane Society will hold a Bingo Night and Supper at the First United Methodist Church, located at 300 W. Shotwell St., in Bainbridge.

A supper consisting of baked potatoes and chili will be served at 6 p.m., with bingo to be played between 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There will also be door prizes. Admission is a $10 donation for adults and a $5 donation for children and includes supper and a bingo card. Extra bingo cards can be provided for a suggested donation of $1 per card or six cards for $5.

The Humane Society will also hold the 7th Annual Sam Howell Memorial Paws for Paws golf tournament in February. The tournament will be held Monday, Feb. 18, at noon at the Bainbridge Country Club.

Later in February, the Humane Society will host its annual book fair fundraiser on Feb. 23, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church on East Broughton Street. People who wish to donate books to be sold for the book fair, which will raise money for the animal shelter, can drop them off at the shelter, the church, Going Postal and the Handyway store on Newton Road.
