Groups collect 8,216 toys for ‘Toys for Tots’

The Bainbridge Salvation Army, in conjunction with the Bainbridge High School Air Force Junior ROTC, Walmart, Walter Farms of Donalsonville, Ga., retired Georgia Power employees, retired teachers and Bainbridge Tennis Center, collected 8,216 toys this season for the “Toys for Tots” campaign.
Co-chairmen of the ROTC drive were junior Cadet Master Sgt. Paxton Varnum and junior Cadet Tech Sgt. Zenil Patel.
Salvation Army director Gloria Harrell expressed her appreciation to all the contributors during a Friday afternoon visit to the ROTC clssroom at Bainbridge High School.
“God has been good to us and all of our contributors have done a great job,” she said. Because of their efforts no needy child in Decatur County will be without toys this Christmas.”
Lt. Col. Dave Stewart, director of the Bainbridge High School Air Force Junior ROTC program and Air Force Junior ROTC Sr. MSgt. Frank Geslak commended their cadets for their efforts.
