History buff seeking information

Published 7:33 am Tuesday, December 11, 2012

I am seeking information about a stone structure on Spring Creek that is now covered with water. Locally, it was called “Jackson’s Oven,” even though it could not have been an oven. Native Americans likely built it, because it was so old. It was made of limestone and was about 15-by-9-feet, according to Frank Jones’ History of Decatur County (page 177).

In anyone has a picture of it, I would love to make a copy for the Historical Society’s archives. Anyone with information about it, please call me on my cell phone so that we can discuss it.

My cell phone number is (229) 726-5836. Thank you.
