Nelle Bolton Whatley, 94, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Memorial Manor Nursing Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Randy Mosley officiating, and will conclude at the chapel. Interment will be at follow at Oak City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 541, Bainbridge, GA 39818.

Mrs. Whatley was born April 22, 1918, in Bainbridge, the daughter of Alonzo Joseph Bolton and Nellie Adeline Baker Bolton. She was valedictorian of Pine Hill High School, Class of 1935, was a graduate of Georgia State Teacher’s College, and attended Florida State University.

Mrs. Whatley was a high school English and math teacher for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Clark-Morris Circle. Mrs. Whatley was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Chapter 773 and the Real Granddaughters Club.

Mrs. Whatley was preceded in death by her husband, Rupert Baron Whatley; her brothers, Graham Bolton and Joseph Bolton; and her sisters, Mary Ann Richards, Rebecca B. Eilenberger, Vera Bolton, and Vasta B. Yarbrough.

Survivors include her daughter, Cena Sharber and her husband, Jerry, of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Matthew Sharber, Daniel Sharber, and Rebecca Sharber; and her great-granddaughter, Annabelle Pfeiffer.
