Martha Ann Clinton Clenney, 79, passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, Fla. Services for Mrs. Clenney were held Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at 2 p.m., at Aenon Baptist Church in Tallahassee, with Dr. John McDaniel officiating. Interment was held at 4 p.m., in Oak City Cemetery, in Bainbridge. James Childers Jr., Derek Rooks, Freddy Hirsch, Mitch Clenney, Rusty Clenney, Joey Harris and Jeff Simpson served as pallbearers.
Martha Ann Clinton was born in Bainbridge, on Aug. 9, 1933, to Hugh Alexander Clinton and Lela Gertrude Jowers Clinton. Martha Ann moved to Tallahassee when she was in her teens. She was married to Elzie Clenney, who preceded her in death, for 56 years. She was a busy housewife and mother, and a member of Aenon Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sons, Robert Benjamin Clenney and Elzie Steve Clenney.
Survivors include her children: Barbara Ann Zorn and husband, Winston of Reynoldsville, Ga., Frankie Lee Clenney of Bronson, Fla., Marlene Childers and husband, Gerald of Woodville, Fla., Brenda Clenney of Crawfordville, Fla., Cynthia Miller and husband, Wendell of Crawfordville, and Amy Shiver and husband, Clark of Thomasville, Ga.; one sister, Margaret (Pat) Carroll and husband, Carl of Tallahassee; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
