Anne Thomas Conger, 86, of Bainbridge, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Memorial Hospital.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Oak City Cemetery, with Rev. Paul Medley officiating.

Mrs. Conger was born March 30, 1926, in Thomasville, Ga., the daughter of William Bryant Thomas and Anne Gullatte Thomas. She was a graduate of Thomas County High School. Her undergraduate was from Mercer University, and she earned a master’s degree from Florida State University. Mrs. Conger was a school teacher for many years in the Decatur County School System. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was on the bereavement committee. Mrs. Conger was also involved with the Decatur County Historical Society and the Friends of the Library.

Mrs. Conger was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Leonard Hodges Conger; and her sons, Len Conger and Ben Conger.

Survivors include her son, Tom Conger and his wife, Gloria, of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Bryant Conger of Birmingham, Ala., and Lee Conger and his fiancée, Sara Smith, of Alexandria, Va.
