Pet owners must now register animals at sheriff’s office

Beginning Monday, Aug. 27, Decatur County citizens — who live outside the Bainbridge City Limits — must begin registering their pets at the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office (912 Spring Creek Road). Registration forms are available online at the Decatur County web site (www.decaturcountyga.org), or the Humane Society web site (bainbridgehumanesociety.com), and may be faxed to (229) 248-3850. Forms are also available at the sheriff’s office, Mondays through Fridays, from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. The planning department on Airport Road will no longer be accepting registration forms. In order to be compliant with the county’s animal ordinance, the pet must be registered only one time, with proof of current rabies vaccination from a licensed veterinarian.
