The funeral service for Inez Barber Smith, 89, of Bainbridge, will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Attapulgus United Methodist Church, with Rev. Lynn Hurley officiating, and will conclude at the church. Interment will be at Greenshade Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., prior to the funeral service, at Attapulgus United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Attapulgus United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 26, Attapulgus, GA 39815 or Greenshade Cemetery, c/o of J. B. Swicord, 803 Collier St., Bainbridge, GA 39819.
Mrs. Smith was born April 5, 1923, in Bainbridge, the daughter of Darius Robert Barber and Gertrude VanLandingham Barber. She died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and the University of Georgia. Mrs. Smith was a retired nutrition director for the Decatur County School System and a member of the Attapulgus United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edwin Smith.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas Edwin Smith Jr. and his wife, Mary, and Robert Van Smith and his wife, Jo, both of Bainbridge; her daughter, Kay Smith Owens and her husband, John, of Bainbridge; her sister, Mary Barber Cox of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Rusty Smith, T. Rude, Laura Smith, and Katie Smith; her great-grandchildren, Hunter Rude, Hayden Rude, Sydney Claire Smith, Jackson Smith, Lexie Delbrey, and Bowen Smith.
