Services for Barbara Jean “Bobbie Jean” Johnson, 75, of Whigham, Ga., will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Magnolia Baptist Church, in Whigham. Rev. Don Prevatt and Rev. Robert Crapps will officiate. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Brumby, Paul White, Trip Brock III, Gary Walker, Dixon Harrison and Len Floyd. Honorary pallbearers will be her classmates.

She was born on Nov. 13, 1936, in Whigham, to the late Charles Singletary and Loretta Gwaltney Singletary. She passed away at her daughter’s home in Thomasville, Ga. on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012.

On March 7, 1958, she married Hugh Lyndell Johnson, who preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 2000. She was a seamstress in the clothing and manufacturing industry. She was an active member of Magnolia Baptist Church.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; brothers, Charles Singletary Jr. and Edward Singletary Sr.

Survivors include her children, Jimmy Dean Johnson (Penny) of Bowdon, Ga., Teresa Lane (Roger) of Thomasville, Carroll Johnson (Lisa) of Cairo, Beverly Earnest (Buddy) of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Alisha White (Paul) of Coolidge, Ga., Rachel Dione Johnson of Bowdon, Erin Leigh Sims of Douglasville, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Macey Leigh Griner of Coolidge, Raylin Faith White of Coolidge, Payton Ryleigh Sims of Douglasville, Hayden Craig Schofield of Bowdon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lavaughn Singletary (Lena) of Grovetown, Ga., David Singletary (Doris) of Whigham, Inez Singletary of Grovetown, Mary Emma Singletary of Grovetown; “sisters,” Frankie Jane Quamme, Nancy Clark, Jenny Ponder; best friends, Myrtle Ann Lewis, Cleonice Whitaker.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
