Mr. Dawes Lawrence, 87, of Bainbridge, died Sunday, July 1, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Lawrence is a former resident of Albany, Ga., and Jacksonville, Fla. He was a member of New Berlin Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Vistation will be held at 1 p.m., followed by services at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012, at New Prospect Baptist Church in Samson, Ala. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. Elbert Smith will be officiating. Matthew Graham, Zachary Morey, Joshua Morey, Wayne Lawrence, Harvey Lawrence, and William Lee Lawrence will serve as pall bearers.

Mr. Lawrence was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Hacoda, Ala., to the late John D. Lawrence and Effie Brooks Lawrence. He was a retired construction foreman for Wright Contracting Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 45 years, Bobbie Ree Odom; sister, Frankie Davis; and son-in-law, Gary Morey.

Survivors include his daughters; Jerry Graham and husband Lee of Bainbridge, Judy Morey of Tifton; brothers: Travis Lawrence, James Lawrence, Burl Lawrence, Bill Lawrence, Wayne Lawrence, Harvey Lawrence, and William Lee Lawrence; sister: Erlene Clemmons; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
