Mr. Vernon J. Gunn, 72, passed away early Monday, June 25, 2012, at the Effingham County Hospital.

He was a native of Blakely Ga., and had lived in Ellabell, Ga., for the past 22 years. Mr. Gunn worked as an electrician for the Bulloch County Board of Education for many years. He was a member of the Ellabell United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, camping, wood working, building flower beds, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home. Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Lanell Gunn of Ellabell; his children, Patty Ann Taylor of Bainbridge, Johnny Vernon Gunn of Dothan, Ala., Tammy DeLoach of Statesboro, Ga., and Belinda Burroughs of Brunswick, Ga.; two sisters, Mildred of Atlanta, Ga., and Francine of Bainbridge; one brother, Gene of Statesboro; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Hodges-Moore Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
