The funeral service for Josie Burnum Lamb, 90, of Bainbridge, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Lamb Jr. and Rev. Paul Medley officiating, and will conclude at the chapel.
Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Shaun Lamb, Jackson Lamb, Lester Lamb, Hoyt Sapp Jr., Joe Darley, and Forrest Elkins serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Sydney Cochran and staff, Flint River Hospice, Memorial Manor, Avon representatives, and the YMCA water aerobics class.
Mrs. Lamb was born Feb. 24, 1922, in Bainbridge, the daughter of Joseph Lee Burnum and Sally Pollock Burnum. She died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Memorial Manor Nursing Home. She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Class of 1940, and was a charter member of First Free Will Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. Mrs. Lamb was a dedicated homemaker and was an independent sales representative with Avon for over 52 years. She loved gardening and baking, and was the third princess in the Decatur County Sesquicentennial in 1973.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie L. Lamb Sr.; and her 10 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Willis Wayne Lamb and his wife, Brenda, of Pennington Gap, Va., and Willie Lee Lamb Jr. and his wife, Patty, of Locust Grove, Ga.; her daughter, Beverly Widener and her husband, William, of Climax; her grandchildren, Shaun Lamb, Joseph Lamb, Matt Lamb, Jordan Lamb and Sara Lamb; and her great-grandchildren, Jackson Lamb, Abigail Lamb, Shane Lamb, Ethan Lamb and Gavin Lamb.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 18, at Ivey Funeral Home.
