• Salem M.B. Church — The church, located at 451 Old Faceville Road, will host a Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday, May 12, at 2 p.m. All ladies are asked to wear their favorite spring dresses and hats. Refreshments will be served.
• E.D.E.N. International Ministries, Inc. — Located at 2550 Old Whigham Road, Bainbridge, will hold a community cookout and clothing giveaway on Saturday, May 12, from noon to 4 p.m. Everything is free. Dr. Calvin L. Lewis, pastor, invites everyone to come and enjoy the event.
• Second Elizabeth M.B. Church — The church, located at 2718 Attapulgus Highway, in Quincy, Fla., will host a choir workshop on Saturday, May 12, at 3 p.m. The workshop will give training on how to sing parts. • First African Baptist Church — The church, located at 515 Webster St., will celebrate Mother’s Day on May 12 with a Mother Celebration Banquet at 6 p.m. Theme of the program is “A Mother’s Love.” Speaker for this occasion will be Ms. Shirmil Clark of Atlanta, who is employed as a pharmacist at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga.
• New Messiah M.B. Church — The church, located at 1300 E. River Road, will observe its annual Senior Choir Anniversary on Saturday, May 12, at 7 p.m.
• Willow Head M.B. Church — The church, located at 615 E. Calhoun St., in Thomasville, Ga., will host a free concert on Saturday, May 12, featuring Washington, D.C., gospel recording artist and Thomasville native, Patrick Lundy, along with the Valdosta Community Choir. The service begins at 7 p.m.
• Mount Nebo M.B. Church — The church, located on Lake Douglas Road, will observe Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 13, at the 11 a.m. worship service, with Sis Verna Barnswell as the speaker. Dinner will be served following the service. Each Friday at 7:30 p.m. the church holds Friday Nite Fire.
• Second Elizabeth M.B. Church — The church, located at 2718 Attapulgus Highway, in Quincy, Fla., will hold its annual Mother’s Day celebration on Sunday, May 13, at 11 a.m., with Minister Gloria Walden, of Whigham, Ga., as guest speaker.
• Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church — The church, located at 1810 S. West St., will hold a special Mother’s Day service on Sunday, May 13, at 11:15 a.m.
• Trinity Baptist Church — The church, located at 1865 Tallahassee Highway, in Bainbridge, will have a special Mother’s Day event Sunday, May 13, at 6 p.m., with gospel music artist Mitchel Jon in concert. Admission is free.
• Second St. James M.B. Church — The church, located at 1912 Potter St., will hold a revival Monday, May 14-18 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The Rev. Willie Smiley, pastor of St. Thomas M.B. Church of Fowlstown, will lead the services.
• Pleasant Hill M.B. Church — The church, located on Lane Powell Road, in Eldorendo, will hold a revival May 15-18 at 7:30 p.m. nightly, with Rev. Ronald Williams leading the services.
• First Flint River M.B. Congress of Christian Education — The meeting of the congress will be hosted at Pine Hill M.B. Church, located at 1048 Pine Hill Road, Bainbridge, with the theme “Solidarity with the Saviour through the Word.” The session opens Friday, May 18, at 9 a.m. and runs through Saturday afternoon, May 19.
• Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church — The church, located in Vada, will hold a Young at Heart Social on Friday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m.
• Travelers Rest M.B. Church — The church, located at 661 Cal Thomas Road, in Whigham, Ga., will hold deacon ordination services on May 19 at 6 p.m., with Pastor Deon Williams as guest preacher.
• Elizabeth A.M.E. Church — The church, located at 2815 Lincoln Drive, in Chattahoochee, Fla., will hold the annual “100 Men and Women in Black & White” on May 20 at 11 a.m., featuring Rev. Dr. Patricia F. Patterson of Thomasville, Ga., and Eastman, Ga. as guest speaker.
• Emanuel M.B. Church — The church, located on Emanuel Church Road in Fowlstown, will observe the Missionary Society 11th Anniversary on May 20 at 3 p.m. on the theme “Sharing your Blessing with Others.” The guest speaker will be Bertha Thompson of First African Baptist Church.
• Mount Nebo M.B. Church — The church, located on Lake Douglas Road, will hold a revival starting Monday, May 21, through Friday, May 25, at 7:30 nightly. Rev. John Gardner of Saint Elizabeth Church, of Quincy, Fla., is the evangelist for the week.
• Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church — The church, located at 1810 S. West St., will hold the annual Mission March on Saturday, May 26, at 7 p.m.
• Lily Hill M.B. Church — The church, located in Climax, will celebrate its 70th anniversary on Sunday, May 27, at 11:30 a.m., with Rev. Willie Williams and Pleasant Hill M.B. Church as guest participants.
• Highway Free Will Baptist Church — The church, located at 3376 Dothan Road in Brinson, will host a homecoming on June 10. Services are at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. S.E. Newberry, of Quincy, Fla., as guest speaker. A covered dish will follow the services and singing begins at 1:30 p.m., featuring The Regals.
• Calvary Baptist Church — The church, located at 601 Chason St., will be the site for the fourth annual Patriotic Celebration to be held on Sunday, July 1. Musicians and singers are needed to participate in this celebration of God and country, which is open to all citizens of Decatur County.
