The funeral service for Robert Bernard Thompson Jr., 52, of Bainbridge, was held at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2012, at Second Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Eugene Roberts officiating.

Interment followed at Breedlove Cemetery, with Reginald Aldridge, Eugene Porter, Herman Peterson and Terry Mitchell serving as active pallbearers.

Robert was born on March 7, 1960, in Bainbridge, the son of Mary Louise Bullard Thompson and the late R.B. Thompson, both of Colquitt. Robert passed from this life on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at his home.

Robert was a graduate of Bainbridge High School. He served in the Armed Forces in the U.S. Army. He was a retired veteran and worked as a mechanic for over 30 years. He was a member of Jesus Christ Deliverance Pentecostal Church, located at 836 Moore St., Bainbridge.

Survivors include his mother Mary Louise Thompson Smith of Bainbridge,; a wife Tangy Barney Thompson of Albany; two daughters, Qiana Thompson and TaQuana Thompson of Savannah; one brother Henry Allen Glenn Jr. of Donalsonville; three sisters, Brenda Louise Thompson Simmons of Victoria, Texas, Malissa Thompson and Carolyn Aldridge, both of Bainbridge; and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives. He will be missed on this earth.

Bruton Mortuary was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
