Bainbridge cattleman Gerald “Jerry” Long, a director on the Georgia Beef Board, was among 53 beef council directors and staff from 23 states who attended a recent orientation in Denver, Colo., hosted by the Federation of State Beef Councils, a division of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association. Shown are, left to right: Craig Uden, chairman, Federation of State Beef Councils, Nebraska; Long; and Richard Gebhart, vice chairman of the Federation, Oklahoma. The Federation is an alliance of the 45 beef councils that collect the $1 per-head-checkoff. Some breed and allied industry groups are also Federation members.
