William Gene Miller, 68, of Bainbridge, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012, at his residence.

The funeral service was held Monday, April 30, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Randy Mosley officiating. Interment was at Oak City Cemetery with Henry Metcalf, Joe Higdon, Ken Whittle, Harold Lambert, Dee Hodges, Benson Woodbery, Lofton Willis and David Bryan serving as active pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friendship House of Jesus, P.O. Box 513, Bainbridge, GA 39818, or First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 541, Bainbridge, GA 39818.

Gene was born Jan. 10, 1944, in Bainbridge, the son of Wonnie Buell Miller and Rudolph Justice Miller. He was a graduate of Georgia Military College and attended Presbyterian College, and served in the Air National Guard. He was the owner and broker of Miller-Griffin Realty. He was very active in First United Methodist Church and coordinated the establishment of the United Methodist Hispanic Ministry in Bainbridge.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis Marion Miller, Wonnie Buell “Buster” Miller Jr., and Parker David “Pete” Miller.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Mary Rollins Miller of Bainbridge; his sons, William Gene Miller Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Portland, Ore., Nathan Rollins Miller and his wife, Sarah Ball, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Willis Banks Miller and his wife, Lesley, of Bainbridge; and his grandchildren, Henry Rollins Miller, William Hayne Miller and Mary Call Miller, all of Tallahassee, and Winter Claire Miller of Portland.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
