The funeral service for Zoie Merritt Wright, 83, of Bainbridge, was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Andy Merritt and Rev. Danny Brewer officiating. Interment followed at Black Jack Baptist Church Cemetery, with David Weathersby, Brandon Wright, Jared Wright, Donnie Lee, Dustin Merritt, Jeremy Stewart, Jerry Henny, and Nicholas Weathersby serving as active pallbearers.

Mrs. Wright was born Oct. 7, 1928, in Miller County, Ga., the daughter of Bert Lorenzo Merritt and Katie Cleveland Merritt. She died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Riverside Place.

She was a graduate of Early County High School and retired from ITT Electrical, with 25 years of service. She was a member of Black Jack Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for more than 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer H. Wright Jr.

Survivors include her son, Howard Keith Wright and his wife, Cindy, of Theodore, Ala.; her daughter, Sonya W. Weathersby and her husband, Jeff, of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Brandon Wright, Jared Wright, Haley Stewart, David Weathersby, and Myranda Weathersby; and her great-granddaughter, Stella Wright.
