The funeral service for Joyce S. Robinson, 77, of Bainbridge will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Medley, Dr. Austin L. Phillips, and Rev. Ron Kirkland officiating. The graveside funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Sunset Memory Gardens in Thomasville, Ga. Jimmy Crum, Don Kell, Rick Ragan, Marvin Hall, Winston Brock, Johnny Skipper, and Joe Todd will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Hilda Byrd Sunday School Class and the Penney-Lambert Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Ivey Funeral Home.

Joyce was born March 14, 1935, in Fort Benning, Ga., the daughter of Major R. B. Schillings and Vivian “Goody” Goodwin Schillings. She died Monday, April 23, 2012, at her residence.

She was a graduate of Baker High School in Columbus, Ga., Class of 1953, and received her B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Georgia. She taught first grade for several years and helped Morningside Baptist Church start a kindergarten program, where she taught for over 35 years. She loved people and enjoyed working in many facets of Bainbridge. She was a volunteer for more than 20 years with Hospice of Southwest Georgia, was inducted into the Gracious Ladies of Georgia 2002, and received the Bainbridge-Decatur County Woman of the Year Award in 2008. Joyce was a member of First Baptist Church and co-teacher of the Hilda Byrd Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, E. Dewey Robinson of Bainbridge; her sons, Rob Robinson and his wife, Kelly, of Gainesville, Ga., Mike Robinson and his wife, Joan, of Phenix City, Ala., and Ed Robinson and his wife, Amy, of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Paige Gilliland and her husband, Todd, Ivy Robinson, Peaches Shipley, Georgia Shipley, Christopher Vanier and his wife, Mallorie, Shanna Greene and her husband, Jared, Joshua Robinson, and Mollie Jewel Robinson; and her great-grandchildren, Wesley Greene and Evan Greene.
