The funeral service for Mary Long Brown, 84, of Bainbridge, was held on Friday, March 16, 2012, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Medley, Rev. Art Bruce, and Rev. David Self officiating, and concluded at the church. The Deacons of First Baptist Church served as active pallbearers and interment was at Roselawn Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Brown was born Sept. 9, 1927, in Dodge County, Ga., the daughter of John Solomon Long and Alice Kate Lassiter Long. She died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Memorial Manor Nursing Home. She was a graduate of the Academy for the Blind in Macon, and retired from Georgia Industries for the Blind. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Fronie McQuaig Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Alvin Brown and her son, William Michael Brown.
Survivors include her son, Neil Penson Brown and his wife, Sandy, of Louisville, Ky.; her sister, Serena Long Kelly of Macon, Ga.; and her granddaughter, Sarah Alice Marie Brown of Louisville.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
