Volunteers needed for Oak City Cemetery book

Published 8:58 am Monday, March 5, 2012

In 2003 the Decatur County Genealogical Society published the “Oak City Cemetery” book, listing those that are buried there with maps showing how to locate each grave. The society, which merged last year with the historical society, is now known as the Decatur County Historical and Genealogical Society.

On Saturday, March 10, at 9:30 a.m. the society will begin working on updating the cemetery book. If you would like to help with the work, please contact Shirley Fleming at (229) 246-6327, or e-mail her at decogensoc@aol.com for details and information.

In case of bad weather, it will be rescheduled. Plans are to bring a brown-bag lunch and stay as long as possible so that the update can be completed quickly.
