Funeral service for Mrs. Pauline Sowell Carr, 83, of  Donalsonville, will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Jakin Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Sheffield, Dr. Calvin Arnold, and Wade Spooner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active casketbearers will be Wes Williams, Eric Eubanks, Mark Herring, Ben Spooner, Clay Pearce and Matthew Coates.

Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.

Mrs. Carr was born in Washington County, Fla. on March 19, 1928 to the late Eddie H. and Effie Marie Duncan Sowell. She died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at Donalsonville Hospital. She attended Miller County High School, was a very active member of Jakin Freewill Baptist Church, as long as her health permitted, where she taught Sunday School for 15 years. She was a past president of Jakin Garden Club and a homemaker. Mrs. Carr courageously fought a 13 year battle against Alzheimers Disease.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie H. and Effie Marie Duncan Sowell and a son-in-law Rev. Donald A. Coates.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Wayne Carr of Donalsonville; her daughters, Suzanne Coates of Smithfield, NC, Lauren Spooner and her husband Wade of Donalsonville, Veronica Pearce of Bainbridge; her sister, Shirley Cannon and her husband Jess of Lutz, Fla. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Matthew Coates, Jordon Coates, Ashley Coates, Austin Coates, Meg Herring and her husband Mark, and their children, Mason, Vivian, Ethan, and Grace;  Ben Spooner and his wife Brandy, and their children, Ben Jr., Eva, Emma, and Sydney; Merrie Beth Eubanks and her husband Eric, and their children, Evan, Lauren, and Hannah; and Maria Williams and her husband Wes, and their children, Ty, Ava, Bo, and Colt; and Clay Pearce. Her special caregiver of 8 years, DeDee Austin also survives.
