The Firehouse Gallery rang out with peals of laughter Friday evening as young girls, dressed to the nines in party dresses, their hair done up in curls, were escorted to the annual Father-Daughter Valentine dance sponsored by the Bainbridge-Decatur County Council for the Arts.
Friday night’s popular event was repeated on Saturday evening, as it has become a sell-out each year.
The young ladies and their escorts entered through a large arch decorated with red and white tulle and colorful balloons, as the theme throughout the room.
After eating refreshments the gleeful girls proved girls just “wanna” have fun. They began dancing and racing around with each other, as girls have done for years. Meanwhile, the dads lined the walls visiting with each other.
DJ Martha Reynolds called the men to action on the dance floor where, encouraged by their young “dates,” they enthusiastically got into the spirit and entered into the ever-popular hokey pokey, the chicken dance, limbo and the wildly energetic tootie tot dances.
Local professional photographer Jessica Cannon was on hand upstairs to take photos of the attendees.
The event was co-sponsored by Headquarters, Hair Shapers, Dairy Queen, Ivey Funeral Home, Inland, 101.9 Radio and Mr. and Mrs. Drane Smith.
