Russell “Rusty” Andrews, 42, of Climax, died early Monday morning after his car collided with a tanker truck in southeastern Decatur County.
The accident took place at 5:42 a.m. on Georgia State Route 262 South, about two miles north of its intersection with U.S. Highway 27 South and just north of the Florida-Georgia state line.
According to troopers with the Georgia State Patrol, Andrews’ Buick LeSabre collided with a tanker truck that was on its way to pick up a load of lime from a mine owned by Active Minerals International LLC Attapulgite Division.
State troopers were at the scene of the accident and temporarily closed off Georgia 262 between Wautauga Road and U.S. 27 South for much of Monday morning.
More details will be posted as they become available. See the Wednesday, Feb. 8, edition of The Post-Searchlight for the full story.
