Funeral services for W.C. Johnson, 84, of Whigham, Ga., will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, at 4 p.m. at Cloud Funeral Home Chapel, 355 1st Ave. N.E., Cairo, with Minister Nathaniel Hollings officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Cemetery with nephews acting as pallbearers.

Mr. Johnson was born in the Black Jack Community of Bainbridge on Sept. 10, 1927, the son of the late Miles and Evelena Johnson. He died Feb. 1, 2012, at Grady General Hospital after an extended illness as a resident of Pinewood Nursing Home in Whigham.

Mr. Johnson was retired from Golden Peanut Company in Climax.

He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, two uncles and both parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Annie Lois Adams of Cairo; two sisters, Beulah Wright of Atlanta, and Bonzeia Johnson of Climax; four brothers, Melvin Johnson (Christine) of Cairo, Zachary Johnson and Willis Johnson, both of Climax, and Nathaniel Johnson of Whigham; Aunt Daisy Johnson of Miami, Fla.; nine grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Johnson, 1680 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. S.W. in Cairo.

Cloud Funeral Home of Cairo is in charge of the arrangements.
