Snowflake Ball is a wonderful event

They’ll be dancing into the night Saturday at the Kirbo Center at Bainbridge College, as the Decatur County Special Olympics puts on its second annual “Snowflake Ball.”

Many communities have a Special Olympics committee, but then the only event that they hold each year is the actual “Special Olympics” track-and-field competition. We are lucky in Bainbridge that our committee not only holds the track-and-field event, but also special bowling days and Saturday’s “Snowflake Ball.” The idea behind the ball is that it will allow Decatur County’s handicapped and special-needs citizens to enjoy the fun of a high-school prom night, complete with decorations, music, and dancing. Lots and lots of dancing.

This is a wonderful event and we are happy that it’s going to be held for a second straight year. We hope it continues for many years more.
