The graveside funeral service for Doris Taylor Palmer, 83, of Bainbridge, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Oak City Cemetery with Rev. Ed Harrell officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Chad Smith, Bradley Harrell, John Cawvey, Allen Lamb, Spencer VanHousen, Kevin Causey, and Wesley Lamb.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday at Ivey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Palmer was born July 26, 1928, in Colquitt, Ga., the daughter of Grady Taylor and Beulah Fleming Taylor. She died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Port City Personal Care Home. She was a graduate of Miller County High School and Andrew College. Mrs. Palmer was a devoted mother and homemaker, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Colquitt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. E. Palmer; her son, Ronnie Grady Palmer; and her sister, Nell Kenney.

Survivors include her son, Johnny Palmer Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Bainbridge; her daughters, Patricia Palmer Smith and her husband, Charles, of Bainbridge, and Betty Palmer Harrell of Bainbridge; her sisters, Ruth Tully and her husband, Bobby, of Colquitt, and Mary Lawrence of Carrollton, Ga.; her grandchildren, Angela Cawvey, Melissa Causey, Rhonda Lamb, Chad Smith, Leigh Anne VanHousen, Bradley Harrell, and Brooke Harrell; and her great-grandchildren, Wesley Lamb, Emily Lamb, Elijah Cawvey, Kathryn Causey, Spencer VanHousen, Preston VanHousen, and Charlie Smith.
