Parent Volunteer Training soon

Published 9:01 am Thursday, January 19, 2012

Parents who have indicated a desire to volunteer in their child’s school are encouraged to attend one of the Decatur County Schools’ (DCS) parent volunteering sessions that are being offered soon. The sessions will be held at the Decatur County Board of Education Support Center, 507 Martin St. in west Bainbridge. The first session is Monday, Jan. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. or 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The other session is Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Research shows that parent involvement increases academic success. One way to be actively involved in your child’s education is to become a parent volunteer. Come learn the do’s and don’t’s of volunteering, along with other important information. Participants will receive several free items as a way of saying “thank you” for their parent volunteerism. Photo ID’s will be made at this meeting as well.
