The funeral service for Syble G. Mills, 65, of Bainbridge, will be held Thursday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at Sutton Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynn Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Prosperity Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with her nephews serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Ivey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mills was born Jan. 22, 1946 in Miller County, Ga., the daughter of David Elijah Griffin and Estelle Kelley Griffin. She died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 at her son’s residence. She was a graduate of Miller County High School, worked for the United States Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency, and retired after 20 years of service as a program assistant. Mrs. Mills was awarded the Agricultural Woman of the Year Award and she was a member of Sutton Chapel United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her loyalty to her family and friends and the loving care that she provided.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Marshall Griffin; and her sisters, Margaret Harden, Doris Davis and Cupid Hagen.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, William Mills of Bainbridge; her sons, Billy Mills and his wife, Tina, of Attapulgus, and Tom Mills and his wife, Emily, of Bainbridge; her brother, Eddie Griffin and his wife, Nita, of Bainbridge; her sisters, Nell Lane and her husband, Roger, of Iron City, and Zella O’Quinn and her husband, Jack, of Brunswick; her grandchildren, Taylor Mills, Briana Mills, Kaleigh Mills, and Liam Mills.
