Mr. Lee Monroe Hamilton, Lieutenant Commander U.S. Navy (Retired), passed away Monday, Jan. 9, at his home in Climax.

Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m. at Climax United Methodist Church, with Rev. Wayne McDonald officiating. Interment will be held in Cedar Grove Cemetery with full military honors, followed by Masonic graveside rites. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall.

Lee Monroe Hamilton was born Jan. 5, 1917 in Dade City, Fla. to Lee Monroe Hamilton and Matilda Gleaton Hamilton. May 5, 1943, in Miami, he married his sweetheart, Pearle Knight Hamilton. They shared 68 years of life together. There were so many adventures, so much happiness. The University of Florida graduate served proudly in the United States Navy for 24 years. After his retirement, he taught high school chemistry in Rome, Georgia for 20 years. Mr. Hamilton was a member of the United Methodist Church of Climax and the Methodist Men’s group. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 127 in Clearwater, Florida; having served as a past Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the Chemical Engineers Society.

Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Pearle Knight Hamilton of Climax; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Knight Hamilton and Melissa of Rome, Ga.; and a brother, Wallace Hamilton of Dowling Park, Fla.
