Horace Franklin Thursby, 62, of Dawson, Ga., passed away at his home on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012. Funeral services will be held at Harvey Funeral Chapel in Dawson at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012. Interment will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Brian Johnson and Rev. Thomas Newman officiating. A visitation will be held at Harvey Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Frank was born in Oak Ridge, Tenn. on June 10, 1949 to Grace Marion Dyches Thursby and the late Horace Thursby. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, a member of the Brotherhood and former Sunday School Director.  Frank was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He touched the hearts of all those who knew him and was dearly loved by his family.

Survivors include his wife, Geneiva W. Thursby; his mother, Grace Marion Thursby; brother and sister, John “Ricky” (Judy) Thursby of Donalsonville, Ga., and Rita Braswell (Chad) of Brinson; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Linda Holloway of Leslie, Bobby and Sandra O’Stean of Dawson, and Donald Watson of Opelika, Ala.; 11 nieces and nephews and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.
