Services for Carlton James Andersen, 90, of Cairo, Ga., will be held Saturday, Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo with Rev. Dewayne Atkinson and Rev. Katie Garrison officiating.
Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ronnie Callahan, Randy Callahan, Robert Callahan, Scott Ferguson, Greg Ponder and Eric Thatcher. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons, Lucas Ferguson, Bradley Callahan, Jordan Morrow, Harley Ponder, Bryce Callahan, Stormy Thatcher and Jacob Callahan.
Mr. Anderson was born on April 15, 1921 in Goodman, Ala. to the late James and Mae Gilford Anderson. He died Jan. 4, 2012 at Pinewood Nursing Center in Whigham, Ga.
He was married to Delila Elizabeth Harrison “Betty” Anderson. Mr. Anderson was one of 13 children and a truck driver for many years before he retired.
Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his loving wife and companion of 51 years; two sons, Bruce Anderson of Florida and Steve Anderson of Oklahoma; a step-daughter, Barbara Jean Laing (Jimmie) of Whigham; a step-son, Larry Callahan (Barbara) of Cairo; a brother Royce Anderson of Vada; a sister Racine Enfinger (Gordon) of Hoboken, Ga.; 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday.
Clark Funeral Home of Cairo is in charge of the arrangements.
