Nathan E. Cumbie Sr.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, in Dothan, Ala., for Nathan E. Cumbie Sr., 71, of Dothan, who passed away at his home after a lengthy illness. Reverends Steve Skidmore and Aaron Dickinson officiated and burial followed in Memory Hill Cemetery with Brian Pauley, John Chancey, Ashley Jones, Carl Granger, Trey Skidmore, Jessie Cutts, Gene Smith, and Zack Farrington acting as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cloverdale Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mr. Cumbie was born in Bainbridge on July 21, 1940. He was a member of Cloverdale Baptist Church and the Alabama Hearing Aid Society, where he served as secretary, treasurer, vice-president, and president. He was a Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist and previous owner of Beltone Hearing Aid Center. He thoroughly enjoyed working with the elderly and hearing impaired for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by daughter Sharon Cumbie Shaw Pauley; parents, Bernard and Emma Cumbie; and sister Jimmie Ruth King.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Loraine Dollar Cumbie; his son, Nathan Cumbie Jr. (Penny) of Milledgeville, Ga.; his grandson, Aaron Michael Shaw of Dothan; his son-in-law, Brian Pauley (Kelley) of Dothan; and his sister, Mary Niles of Minnesota.

Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel of Dothan was in charge of the arrangements.
