The memorial service for Joe Ann Blue Thirsk, 82, of Bainbridge, will be held Monday, Jan. 2 at 11 a.m. at St. John’ s Episcopal Church with The Rev. June Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’ s Episcopal Church, 516 E. Broughton St., Bainbridge, GA 39819 or to the Bainbridge Decatur County Humane Society, P.O. Box 429, Bainbridge, GA 39818.

Joe Ann was born September 1, 1929 in Perry, Fla., the daughter of Johney Richard Blue and Marcia Stubbs Blue. She died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2011 at Memorial Manor Nursing Home. She was a graduate of Taylor County High School in Perry, Fla., and attended Florida State University. She was a retired registrar from Florida State University’ s Center for Professional Development. She was a member of St. John’ s Episcopal Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R. L. “Dick” Thirsk.

Survivors include her daughters, Cathy Stevens and her husband, Jim, of Bainbridge, and Tina Southwick of Wayne, W.Va.; her grandchildren, Angus Nicholson, Allison N. Hudson and her husband, Will, Laura Nicholson, Sarah Southwick, and Craig Southwick; her great-grandson, Wyatt Hudson; and her brother-in-law, David Thirsk and his wife, Joan.
