Georgia Lane Rich, 90, of Climax, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at Memorial Manor Nursing Home.

The funeral service was held on Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Medley officiating. Interment followed at Oak City Cemetery with Jeff Rich, Earl Rich, Chad Harrison, Robby Harrison, Chris Crosby, Jonathan Rich, Keith Olpinski, Jim Beck, Bob Rich and Joe Rich serving as active pallbearers.

Georgia was born Oct. 19, 1921, in Americus, Ga., the daughter of Rufus Lane and Mary Sue Chambliss Lane. She was a graduate of Americus High School and received her Registered Nursing degree at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, La. She was the first RN at Memorial Hospital, worked for Dr. Frank Gibson, and later served as head nurse for Cairo Hospital. She was Director of Staff Development until her retirement from Bainbridge State Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Jackson Rich; and her sister, Juliette Lane Rich.

Survivors include her sons, Earl J. Rich Jr. and his wife, Sheryl, of Tampa, Fla., and Lane Rich and his wife, Billie Jean, of Climax; her daughters, Nancy Crosby and her husband, Jimmy, of Tallahassee, Fla., Emily Rich of Perry, Ga., and Ellen Fokes of Tallahassee; her eight grandchildren, Jeff Rich, Earl Rich, Chad Harrison, Robby Harrison, Chris Crosby, Jonathan Rich, Kim Olpinski and Rebecca Fokes; and her 15 great-grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
